Project Description

Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) CEO, Soli Middleby, made the comment during the signing of a partnership agreement between the Australian-funded Vanuatu Skills Partnership and Australian-funded APTC to strengthen Vanuatu’s national technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and support inclusive skills pathways.

Project Description

The Vanuatu Education Support Program is supporting the Government of Vanuatu’s goals of improving education quality, providing more equitable access to education and ensuring a well-managed education system.

The program is currently focused on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for children in the early years of schooling (kindergarten to year 3).

Funds for the program are being provided by the Australian and New Zealand governments through a joint partnership arrangement with the Government of Vanuatu.

The project is to construct new international wharf and upgrading facilities at the existing Honiara Port The project is not considered to be a large-scale port project, is not located in a sensitive area, and has none of the sensitive characteristics under the JICA guidelines for environmental and social considerations April 2010, it is not likely to have a significant adverse impact on the environment.

Project Description

The Marine and Coastal Biodiversity Management in Pacific Island Countries herein referred to as the 'MACBIO Project' is assisting five island countries in managing their marine biodiversity. The countries the project supports include Solomon Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Vanuatu and Tonga. The project supports these five countries to meet their National Biodiversity targets as set out in their National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan ( NBSAP) and the 2011-2020 Strategic Plan of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
